Stoel Rives is seeking an Endpoint Engineer who will be responsible for the design, implementation and support of firm-wide PC and mobile device technologies, which include : Microsoft Windows OS and Windows-
based applications, SCCM, VMware Horizon View, VPN and wireless mobile devices (iOS, Android) Daily duties include serving as a senior technical resource to the Networking, Software Development, Support & Training teams;
creating and managing GPOs for desktop management; architecting SCCM infrastructure and deployment methodologies; packaging and deploying desktop applications;
patching desktop and remote access systems; managing and deploying remote access, security and application technologies to mobile devices;
and ongoing involvement in firm-wide technology projects.
The Endpoint Engineer works with all of the PC and mobile device technologies in use by end users and must engineer solutions that meet the business needs of the firm.
Heavily used endpoint products and platforms currently include but are not limited to Microsoft’s Professional Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional, iManage FileSite, Workshare Compare, Skype for Business, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, CaseMap, InterAction, Visio, and Mobile Iron.
The ability to use industry standard packaging, scripting and automation tools to manage these and other applications on physical or virtual Windows-
based computers and remote access devices is a requirement.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Architect and manage the Stoel Rives SCCM and VMware Horizon View environments
Perform software distribution and patch management to Windows-based desktops, laptops, virtual workstations and wireless mobile devices
Perform 3rd level user support, identifying root cause with strategic solutions to problems
Define and manage the user, system and support requirements information gathering and analysis processes needed to provide design and architectural recommendations
Work collaboratively with Managers from Network Operations, Technical Support, and Training teams to develop solutions consistent with the needs of the business
Research and provide input and recommendations on new products and solutions
Develop and institutionalize standard operating procedures while maintaining a strong documentation library
Provide technical training, consulting and presentations as needed
Use incident ticket management and change management systems in accordance to documented procedures; expediently respond to and resolve Tier-3 ticket escalations
Create and maintain documentation for systems and procedures using ITIL best practices
Provide after-hours emergency support with other support staff as needed
Work outside of standard hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of SCCM and scripting (PowerShell, VB, Windows Scripting, etc.)
Strong knowledge of VMware Horizon View (or similar VDI platforms such at Citrix or Hyper-V)
Strong knowledge of Application packaging, compatibility testing, and software distribution
Mastery of Microsoft Windows OS image management and deployment (Windows 7 and 10)
Strong working knowledge of industry standard application packaging technologies (Install Shield, Wise Packaging Studio, Windows Installer, etc.)
Thorough understanding of advanced network concepts and application interoperability, and Active Directory architecture
Strong experience developing and managing Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
Experience managing and scripting SCCM processes (PowerShell, VB, Windows Scripting, etc.)
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CAPABILITIES
The ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time daily
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to operate firm computer equipment and a touch tone telephone
Must be able to communicate complex information and ideas to end users
Must be able to meet deadlines set by management
Must be available and able to travel
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required
Three or more years of experience with software deployment and patch management in a networked, Windows environment using tools such as SCCM required
One or more years of experience of VDI management such as VMware Horizon View, Citrix or Hyper-V
Project management experience desired, especially with large scale physical virtual Windows OS deployments or mobile device rollouts
