Job Description

The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing the sales efforts of all professionals engaged in the selling of IBM products and services within a major business unit.

Primary representative of IBM to the customer in the attainment of all revenue, expense, profit and customer satisfaction objectives.

Develops and plans business strategies to meet the required objectives. Responsible for identifying all business opportunities within the business unit.

May manage other managers.assumes additional responsibilities as assigned

Skills : Environment :

Environment :

Business unit professional mastery related to operations, strategies and objectives in leading edge or critical situations.

Communication / Negotiation :

Teamwork at highest levels within business unit, function, divisions as well as relationships with customer. Plans and conducts complex negotiations reaching lasting agreements and commitments.

Understands customers' business and builds a successful partnership and maintains or improves this relationship through ongoing organizational relationships within IBM.

Problem Solving :

Anticipates, creates and defines innovative and visionary concepts in a strategic environment. Resolves staffing and skill issues through the timely and accurate deployment of resources.

Understands skill deficiencies and assesses risks to minimize impact on IBM and the customer; directs the implementation of solid solutions.

Working Conditions :

Normal / flexible office conditions, frequently exposed to demands of travel and irregular work hours.

Contribution / Leadership :

Manages unit or leads business unit in meeting sales objectives. Develops and implements product, market and / or business strategies with executive review.

Has vision of overall strategies. Contributes to policy making. Recognized as a leader and expert by members of the field, related functions and multi-

organizations with full responsibility to define, decide on tools, processes, priorities, skills and resources required to meet objectives.

Impact on Business / Scope :

Accountable for business unit projects or programs. Responsible for committing multiple resources and achieving customer satisfaction, cost, expense, revenue and other business measurements of critical importance.

Responsible for value add for highly visible hardware / software, financial and service offerings.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Experience with managing sales team

Excellent communication skills

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
