What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence.
We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence.
We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
About Oscar Project
The Department of Financial Resources & Logistics is leading a project named OSCAR, aiming at improving Supply Chain management and customer service.
As such, Logistics, Finance and Assistance Divisions are working together to implement new ways of working, based on a transversal software named JD Edwards (JDE).
A first release was started in June 2014 in Geneva, and will continue throughout various ICRC delegations worldwide.
Main responsibilities of the Deployment officer, include but are not limited to :
The Deployment Officer will assist the Deployment Leader with all training related activities. As a JDE expert he / she will :
give training and presentations to all users on-site and often travel to sub-delegations to do so
verify that Key Users have been properly trained and follow-up with them for any additional questions or clarification they need
help ensure that all the training assessments are completed
help translate, write, and modify JDE procedures and presentations
may be required to give training in a sub-delegation
The Deployment Officer will closely work with the Data Migration Officer and Deployment Leader to help ensure :
that the cutover and data migration is a smooth transition
assist in manual data entry when necessary
The Deployment Officer will assist the Deployment Leader in Post Go-Live Support activities. He / she will :
Assist end users (often in sub-delegations) in their daily operation by working alongside them in their daily activities and providing clarification via face-to-face contact
help ensure that the Support processes are working
The Deployment Officer will be required to :
provide various types of information, documentation and reports as requested to the Deployment Leader, Deployment Planner and Project Management
participate in Lessons Learnt, Debriefings and other related meetings
help ensure that users in the delegation understand the new roles
perform other task and duties as they arise in each deployment
Ensure that all OSCAR End-Users (LOG and requesters) understand the new roles and processes and that they are properly trained on JDE and feel comfortable using the tool.
Ensure on-site support and make sure that Key users are able to provide Level 0 support and report issues to Level 1 and 2.
Ensure that the system is properly running, data is migrated and stocks are neutralized.
Profile and skills sought
French / English speaking writing (both at a fluent level)
Ability to work autonomously
ICRC Logistics processes knowledge preferable
Willingness to travel extensively (100%)
ERP experience as a plus
Excellent communication skills
Ability to plan and organize tasks
Capacity to manage stress and maintain composure under pressure
Our operational & Field constraints
In line with the principle of neutrality, the ICRC does not assign personnel to a country of which they are nationals
Candidates must be in good health and will have to do a medical check-up prior to departure in the field
Candidates must possess a driving licence (for manual transmission vehicles)
Candidates must be prepared to accept unaccompanied postings (i.e. no spouse, partner, children or dependents) for at least the first 24 months
