What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence.
We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
Within the office of the Director-General(DIRGEN), you as the Communication & Reporting Officer are driving, overseeing and coordinating all communication activities.
You will work in support of the Cheif of Staff and reporting directly to the Strategy and Performance Monitoring Manager.
Communication & Coordination :
You will drive the development and implementation of a communication plan of activities and achievements, identify key messages and communication tools & channels, together with the Directorate team.
Provide advice, input and ensure the coherence of the message sent by or channelled through the Office of the Director-
General. Ensure coordination, sequencing of messages and interactions with other departments, with the aim of avoiding overload and providing smoother workflow.
Regularly revise the content for the Directorate intranet pages to ensure that they remain up-to-date, in compliment to the work done by the Executive Assistants.
Facilitate the smooth and timely flow of information within the team.
Ensure smoother interactions and facilitate engagement with other departments, by coordinating, sequencing and communicating the various requirements on different files -
for the quarterly reviews, review of the institutional strategy, risk management, internal control, etc.
Support the monitoring of Directorate activities and orchestrate & prepare the annual planning and review processes, with the input of relevant managers.
Together with the Chief of Staff and relevant managers, establish the agenda for team coordination meetings, define the methodology and ensure follow-up.
Information analysis & Report writing :
You will write, edit and revise the reports coming from the Directorate, for internal and external audiences, (e.g. annual reports, appeals and reports to donors), adhering to ICRC standards of reporting.
You will drive data analysis and the communication of the findings in a compelling, visual and engaging manner via presentations, fact sheets, infographics or other creative styles.
TOgether with the Chief of Staff work on the drafts and reviews of the Directorate documentation.
Education and experience required
University degree in communication, information or social sciences.
Excellent communication, coordination and writing skills, with relevant experience in writing / reporting and managing various channels of communication.
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in writing and / or communication.
Fluency in English, knowledge of French is a strong asset.
Computer proficiency, including knowledge of IT / writing tools, Microsoft Office package and Sharepoint.
